Islamabad, 3 September 2026: The Millennium Education (TME) has marked another significant milestone in its academic journey by introducing Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives as a mandatory subject for students across its nationwide network of Roots Millennium Schools and Future World Schools.
The initiative was formally launched at The Millennium Education Head Office, Islamabad, in collaboration with Cambridge International Education, bringing together principals from campuses nationwide, Cambridge representatives and members of TME’s senior leadership.
The nationwide rollout has been spearheaded by the Department of International Qualifications & College Counseling, led by Flora Mahmood, Head of International Qualifications & College Counseling, The Millennium Education. Introducing the initiative, Flora Mahmood highlighted the growing importance of developing learners who are able to research independently, question information, communicate effectively and engage thoughtfully with issues extending beyond the classroom.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Chaudhry Faisal Mushtaq TI, Founder and CEO of The Millennium Education, spoke about the responsibility of education to develop not only academically successful students, but young people who understand the society and world around them.
Dr. Faisal Mushtaq drew attention to the widening divide between the privileged and underserved in Pakistan, emphasising that students who have access to quality education must be encouraged to understand realities beyond their own. Developing this awareness, he noted, is essential to creating a generation that is informed, empathetic and prepared to contribute meaningfully to society.
Reflecting on the lasting impact of educators, he observed that education is one of the rare professions in which one’s influence can outlive them. He also acknowledged the commitment of the teams who worked throughout the summer to bring the initiative to campuses nationwide.
Speaking at the ceremony, Uzma Yousuf, Country Director, Cambridge Pakistan, highlighted the role of Cambridge Global Perspectives in developing essential skills including critical thinking, research, communication, collaboration and problem-solving through engagement with real-world issues and diverse perspectives.
She recognised the significance of TME’s decision to embed the subject within its academic programme, highlighting Roots Millennium Schools and Future World Schools as the only school network in Pakistan to have taken the initiative of making Global Perspectives mandatory for students across its network.
Global Perspectives encourages students to investigate issues from personal, national and global viewpoints, asking questions, evaluating evidence, understanding different perspectives and communicating reasoned conclusions. It enables learners to recognise how issues such as health, education, income, nutrition and opportunity are interconnected.
The initiative aligns with TME’s educational philosophy of developing well-rounded individuals prepared for the challenges of the 21st century and reinforces its longstanding collaboration with Cambridge International Education. TME’s IGCSE pathway similarly emphasises broad learning and preparation for higher education and beyond.
By making Cambridge IGCSE Global Perspectives mandatory nationwide, TME continues to move learning beyond conventional academic boundaries towards the competencies young people need for university, professional life and responsible global citizenship.
For Roots Millennium and Future World learners across Pakistan, the initiative represents a clear commitment to developing young people who can think critically, communicate confidently, understand different perspectives and engage meaningfully with the world around them.
